ddRADseq: ddRADseq is a method used to identify single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) within the genome of organisms, including invasive species. It involves digesting genomic DNA with restriction enzymes, adding barcoded adapters, shearing the DNA, amplifying, and sequencing. By analyzing the genetic diversity and population structure of invasive species populations and the predicted populations of origin, researchers can gather information about the potential 'source populations' from which the invasive species originated. Researchers highlighted in this newsletter used this method to identify the source population of the invasive Strawberry blossom weevil pictured.
